Pencil Blog Post

In this assignment, we were instructed to create a 3D model of a pencil, based off of a source image. I achieved this primarily by placing the source image into the scene, and then creating 3D polygons to match the general shape of the pencil. Once that was done, I added texture to the model in the form of wood at the sharpened pencil tip, and added color to the remaining portions. Finally, I added some specularity and bump maps to create the illusion of depth and texture, while giving the surface some reflectivity and shadows, and added my name. Once that was done, I took some snapshots in the renderer, and submitted the project.

I ran into some issues with the texturing, as this is a process I am unfamiliar with, and this took some time to understand and implement. More practice will make this process easier. My other issue is that I am unfamiliar with Maya, and again, practice will improve this.
